POSITION SUMMARY:
The Store Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of the supermarket including enforcement of all policies, standards, security measures, and regulations of fair-value, a division of Return Of Capital (ROC). Responsible for hiring, training and maintaining the entire supermarket work force. Maintains FAIR-VALUE's high standards of customer service. Responsible for labor scheduling, store cash and store inventory. Other duties include, but are not limited to receiving trucks and direct store delivery (DSD) vendors; maintaining sanitation and safety standards; store maintenance; and pricing and file maintenance issues. Has direct authority over the Assistant Managers, Scan Analyst, all department managers and functional authority over all store employees. Reports to board of directors.
Manager’s responsibilities
- 1. Providing quick, accurate, and courteous service.
- 2. Supplying a variety of products that meet high quantity, quality, and freshness standards.
- 3. Thanking customers for making us their hometown store.
Knowledge and Education Requirements
- 1. MBA. In business/bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
- 2. Knowledge of DSD/Scanning Operations
- 3. Knowledge of front-end operations
- 4. Data control procedures and data entry operations
- 5. Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
- 6. Operation of a computer and assigned software
- 7. Perform a variety of technical accounting duties in the review, evaluation, and adjustment of assigned accounts
- 8. Maintain accurate financial and statistical records.
Experience
- 1. Five plus years’ retail grocery or supermarket experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- 1. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- 2. Good people and customer interaction skills.
- 3. Skills in areas of leadership, management, coaching, teaching, and motivating employees.
- 4. Demonstrated attentiveness to details, mathematical analytical ability. Use of calculator.
- 5. Good computer skills, e.g. point of sale system.
- 6. Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems – operational, customer, and employee.
- 7. Customer service skills related to interaction with resolving customer concerns.
- 8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- 9. Ability to work in a high pressure and demanding environment.
- 10. Ability to multi-task, i.e., pick-up where left off when interrupted.
- 11. Good organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- 1. Standing / walking – high level
- 2. Environment – convenience store
- 3. Travel – some local travel required for running business errands
- 4. Lifting – up to 60 lbs.
- 5. Ability to unload merchandise from trucks and operate hydraulic equipment
- 6. Ability to bend, kneel and stand for extended periods of time
- 7. Must be at least 30 years of age
